In plain words. You get a free licence to use Chronolane in Excel. Your spreadsheets stay yours. Don’t abuse the service, and we’ll do our best to keep it working — but it comes without guarantees beyond what the law requires.
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and BYTE IDEA S.R.L. (“we”). They apply when you install or use the Chronolane add-in for Microsoft Excel (“the add-in”) or this website. By using them you accept these terms; if you use them for an organisation, you confirm you may accept on its behalf. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy policy.
2. Licence
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the add-in in Microsoft Excel for your own or your organisation’s purposes, including commercial work. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or make the add-in available to third parties, except where the law allows it regardless of this clause.
3. Price
Chronolane is free to install and use. If we ever introduce paid features, we will update these terms and announce the change on this site and in the add-in before it takes effect. Nothing will be charged without your agreement.
4. Acceptable use
Don’t use Chronolane to break the law, to infringe others’ rights, to probe or disrupt our systems or the services we rely on, or to build a competing product by copying it. We may block use that does.
5. Your content
Everything in your workbooks is yours. We claim no rights to it, we don’t receive it (see the Privacy policy), and we have no responsibility for it. You are responsible for backing up your files; History snapshots inside the workbook are a convenience, not a backup.
6. Our intellectual property
The add-in, this website, the templates, illustrations, icons and the Chronolane name and logo belong to us or our licensors. Templates may be used freely in your own workbooks, including for commercial work, but not redistributed as templates.
7. Microsoft services
Chronolane runs inside Microsoft Excel and is distributed through Microsoft AppSource. Your use of Excel and AppSource is governed by Microsoft’s own terms. Microsoft is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Chronolane or for support.
8. Warranty and liability
The add-in is provided free of charge and “as is”. We don’t promise it will be error-free or always available, and we don’t promise it fits a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to [cap, e.g. EUR 100], and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence and the rights of consumers in the EU.
9. Changes and termination
You can stop using Chronolane at any time by removing the add-in. We may change the add-in, and we may discontinue it with at least 90 days’ notice on this site. We may update these terms; the date and version at the top of this page show which version applies, and material changes are announced on this site before they take effect. Timelines already drawn in your workbooks stay there whatever happens to the add-in.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes go to the courts of Bucharest, Romania, unless you are a consumer with a right to bring proceedings where you live.
